This week we studied matter with an emphasis on the water cycle. We watched several YouTube videos on Matter and sang songs trying to grasp the concepts of evaporation, condensation and precipitation. We mixed solids and liquids to make a new solid, Flubber. The children changed the state of an ice cube with salt and lifted it with a string. If you Google Kindergarten Matter, you will get many more fabulous hands on activities to explore at home. Thank you to all the patient parent volunteers who led these high-energy lessons!
Our Acts of Kindness chart is still accumulating! The kids enjoy sharing their acts of kindness with the class and counting up the tally marks. We are well on our way to reach our goal of 100 acts of kindness by Valentine’s Day! Valentine’s Day is around the corner. The children will exchange valentines at our Pajama Party on Friday, February 13! Yes, please tell your kids they can wear their jammies to school again. We will create bags in class to collect our valentines. CANDY FREE VALENTINES ARE PREFERRED! I have included a page of classmates’ names and pictures for you to use as needed. Your child (or you) can write names on valentine’s, glue pictures of classmates on the cards, or bring in blank valentines with your child’s signature and distribute them randomly. Valentine’s Day is a lovely celebration, especially with this young age as they cherish and recognize their friendships. Have a wonderful weekend! Sincerely, Taylor REMINDER DATES: January 30 TONIGHT!: Family Math Night 6:00 -7:30 PM in the gym February 4: 12:45 Early Release Day February 16-20: Ski Skate Week
