Dear Family,
We have had a busy few weeks after ski-skate week and are quickly transitioning into new projects. You will find that your child is bringing home books and tests from the last few months. Please take the time to review everything with your child and let them teach you a few things from our math journal! First, the kids will be bringing home Unit 2- Unit 4 math tests today. With the new report card rolling out and new math program, I held on to these tests to make sure I had everything in place before entering grades for the 2nd trimester. The final test to go home will be the Mid-Year Review, which I am keeping until next week to finish up the rest of the report cards. The kids are also bringing home their math journal volume 1. We began Unit 5 in math journal volume 2 last week. Report Cards go home on Friday, March 25th. The students also brought home a Social Science journal about the California natural resources and tribal regions. We are almost done with our study on California Explorers and next week you will receive information about California Missions. Check the website for upcoming Social Science field trips! 4th Grade Play: We are almost there with the 4th grade play. The week of 3/21 we have very important rehearsals so please don't miss school. Monday is our tech rehearsal from 9-11. Tuesday will be speaking parts from 10-11. Wednesday is our dress rehearsal 9-11. Every student in 4th grade must be dressed in costume that day and Thursday (of course). Thursday our shows are at 2:00 and 6:00. Students will need to meet in the library at 5:45 PM. No earlier please. Please let me know if you have any conflicts. I am happy to say that baby Strong is only 4 weeks away from entering this world! My long-term sub will be Katie Lyczko, a former 4th grade teacher. I have not confirmed my last day yet as I am still feeling good and hoping to keep working for a few more weeks. Katie will be coming in to observe and shadow in the next couple of weeks and has a very flexible schedule that will allow her to start anytime. I am confident that it will be a smooth transition for everyone, especially your kiddos. Sincerely, Taylor Strong P.S. Eggs are going home today!
