Dear Family,
We have had a wonderful week together preparing for the best kid event. . . Halloween! Next Monday, we will begin with an all-school parade. Your child is invited to wear a safe cosutme to school. Following the parade we will have Halloween minicenters to celebrate this high energy day! Parents, you are invited to watch the parade. And, of course, if you would like to help with our party from 9:30 to 10:30, please know you are invited! Next week we will return to our studies of nocturnal animals with the focus on the owl. As our scholars explore new information and begin to apply newly acquired skills to show how much they know, ME, as their teacher, will hold up, honor and celebrate their successes. Creating a place in our classroom to take risks as a learner everyday is an ongoing goal I have as your child’s teacher. Journaling has begun in Kindergarten. Yes, this is the time your writer expresses his/her thoughts through pictures and developmental spelling. It is an exciting time yet vulnerable if you are a reluctant writer. Everyday we are celebrating all attempts of expression. .. verbal, pictorial, and encoding (written work). It might be time to buy a home “journal” (just a note pad of sorts) and encourage your budding writer to journal at home. I have loved conferencing with all of you this month. Sharing celebrations and goals together just feels like a community and partnership. I am the luckiest teacher to have this opportunity to work with amazing children and their lovely families. Enjoy a good “haunted” story this weekend. Start with your child’s storyboard with a haunted house as the centerpiece in the Friday folder. The haunted stories were amazing around the circle this week! Really, your child told a fabulous tale! And, one more thank you to all my parent volunteers who have been so dedicated to us the first 8 weeks of school! Happy Halloween! Taylor
