Dear Family, February 28, 2014
Welcome back from Ski Skate week! I hope everyone had a great time spent with family and friends. I can’t believe it will be March already and that means second trimester report cards will be out. I have been doing formal assessments with each of the students as the trimester is coming to a close. The kids are all doing great and I’m proud of their individual successes. We do not have a school-wide conference week in the spring, but I am available to meet with you anytime. Our biggest goal right now is learning how to be a successful student. With that in mind, the kids are spending time making sure they turn in quality work. As homework, please have your kids keep writing! Have them write CVC words (man, cat, dog, etc.) and sentences in lowercase as we continue practicing this in class. Thank you for all your help at home! In honor of Presidents Day last week we learned about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and recognized American Symbols. Ask your child to use the storyboard in their folder to share facts and fun stories about each president. We have been working hard in math as well this past week. We have just about completed our sevens book. They have been looking at numbers, adding and subtracting to equal 7, looking for patterns, and then explaining how they solved the problem. The kids have been loving math! We are collecting one gallon plastic milk jugs for a spring time project coming up in a couple of weeks. Each student will need 1 plastic milk container for the project. Please rinse out and remove label and send to school with your child. Thank you! Remember to check the website for Friday Letters. www.mrsstrongskinderclass.weebly.com Sincerely, Taylor REMINDER DATES: March 12: Early Release 12:45
