Dear Family,
The children have been as busy as Santa’s elves this week. Sharing traditions, creating gifts, singing carols, identifying the difference between needs and wants, and counting the days to Santa’s big night. We are learning about all the holidays that bring light to winter. ALSO, we read several traditional tales and newer literature, The Gingerbread Baby, which highlighted gingerbread houses and their magic. We have been comparing and contrasting several author’s versions of this classic tale and identifying each author’s purpose and “power” over the story. Next week we will decorate gingerbread houses. Please see the note attached regarding decoration ideas. Reminders: Thursday, December 15th is our classroom musical “Santa Sat and Sat and Sat”. We will begin promptly at 5:27 in C-2 for the 15 minute play. Friday, Dec. 16th Pajama Party Wear jammies to school! Looking ahead: Tuesday, January 3rd Return to school Monday, Jan. 16th School Holiday Martin Luther King Day January is always such a big month as we return from the winter holiday and settle in to our “big” curriculum. Look for the book in the book bag to be a little more challenging. And, don’t be surprised when your child writes you a story. I love and look forward to the New Year as the children are beginning to move and grow quickly in each of the curricular areas. Also, to all of our wonderful parent volunteers, you will find January’s schedule enclosed in your child’s folder today. You are a gift to me, and the children, as your time in class provides us the opportunity to work in small groups and individualize our instruction. Your patience, time and positive approach with each child is appreciated everyday. Santa knows how “nice” you all are! SO MANY REASONS TO BE GRATEFUL. . . 22 Darling children TODAY! LET IT SNOW, Taylor HOLIDAY SHOW THURSDAY AT 5:27 IN C-2!!!!!!!
